PLAY with Scrapbooking

After giving birth to my gorgeous little girl, I have been looking for a project I can take on as a new stay-at-home mum. I decided to take up scrapbooking without realising what a *huge* domain it is in the world of arts and crafts. And an expensive one too! Just in case you don't believe me, this is what I walked into:

Crafts stores like these even run classes for those who would like to make their scrapbooks even more aesthetically pleasing.

But as for me, my real purpose really isn't to create a nice looking album, but rather a place to store all the special keepsakes I collected throughout the pregnancy to birth process.

A place to add not only photos, but also cards...

And even the belly button clamp!

Keen to share any of your scrapbooking ideas? :)

Play: Falafels from leftovers

My favourite memory of eating falafels was found in Egypt. I went for over two weeks visiting the great Pyramids of Giza, the street markets of Cairo, Luxor and of course, the River Nile. Every morning, our little group would have the most amazing falafels for breakfast...

This week, my husband left me for a study tour in China. And my little lonely self was feeling particularly bored. After scouring the contents of my fridge, I realised I wasn't left with much except for the following ingredients: parsley, garlic, greek yogurt (from our tandoori chicken night), half a lemon and a can of chickpeas in the cabinet ( I love making my own hummus).

After a quick google search, I realised that I wasn't far off from having all of the falafel ingredients! After a little dicing and mixing, this is what I came up with, with greek yogurt, garlic and lemon dip on the side.

Work OUT Week 2 Day 1

Week 2's training is slightly more challenging than Week1. Instead of 8 repetitions of 1 min run and 1.5 min walk, this time it's 1.5 min run and 2 min walk for 6 repetitions. Sounds easy right? Not when you're huffing and puffing doing "time checks" every 10 seconds. I really did struggle 4 repetitions in, my face started getting red and my legs slowly giving in.

I realised that checking my watch every 5 seconds wasn't exactly helping my 'running technique', so I decided to set visual goals, e.g. the next lamppost...the next traffic light...the 7th car parked on the curb and concentrated on getting a steady breathing pattern instead. And sure enough it worked! During one rep., I ran over 1.5 min without even realising! Woohoo!

21 minutes later, I finally finished! Felt fantastic. Went home. Gobbled down a piece of cake.

Wonder what I'm doing wrong? I'm just not losing any weight! :)
